ILD
There are about 200 different varieties of interstitial lung diseases (ILD-interstitial lung disease), sometimes known as ILD. These illnesses are distinguished by varying degrees of inflammation, scarring, or both, and they impair the lung’s capacity to take in oxygen from the surrounding air. Pulmonary fibrosis, sometimes known simply as PF, refers to the formation of scar tissue in the lungs and may be seen in many different forms of ILD. There are almost 250,000 people in the United States who live with PF and ILD. Both PF and ILD are difficult to diagnose and may be incapacitating and, in some instances, incurable conditions.
Some drugs, radiation to the chest, autoimmune illnesses, environmental and occupational exposures, and other factors may lead to PF and ILD. The most prevalent kind of PF is idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which develops for no apparent reason. With over 50,000 new instances of PF and ILD identified each year, it is clear that this condition is becoming more common.
